Professional change - The start of full-time self-employment
Hello,
A Change. A professional change. A lot has happened since the last post on this evolving blog on digital marketing and website publishing techniques.
I am Jeff, the webmaster, and I am a new student of a Business Launch class to start my personal freelance website publishing business as a self-employed worker, or freelancer as they say.
My return to school is going pretty well! I like to meet new entrepreneurs. We encourage each other to pursue our common projects.
I’m telling you about all these changes in this report. May I suggest listening to a tune while you read? Here is the excellent song Change from Sheryl Crow! Yes, I love Mrs. Crow and I think we have the same taste in making our patched jeans!

The Day of a Full-time Entrepreneur in Startup Mode
The lifestyle of people starting a business is dynamic! The days pass quickly and organizing the schedule is important, even essential. Business opportunities are numerous and require managing several projects at once, while wondering whether these opportunities will be profitable or just waste of time. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed. We quickly learn to concentrate on one thing while keeping an eye on everything.
Priority on health and nutrition above all. It’s a fact, eating in the car between two appointments is not beneficial for anyone; this long-term lifestyle is disastrous for both physical and moral health. Let’s remain energetic and positive, and healthy! So, like a good kid, I eat healthily and I don’t drink alcohol. I am physically active and go to bed early. I also put the brakes on unnecessary distractions like mobile games and TV series. Shopping days and cafe breaks, restaurant and bar meetings have also diminished, being replaced by study time and homework anyway.
I do business networking using social media and going to professional events. I devote more of my free time in evenings and weekends to developing the business plan, the marketing orientation and the branding to come.
I concentrate on my working hours from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM. During that time, I execute contracts and send quotes. Ideally, the administrative tasks should be included in this period too, but I know, there are a lot of things to do on the first year of a business. Hopefully, a regular schedule will come sooner than expected.
I must admit my active dog, Charlie, helps me a lot, waking me up at 5 a.m. every morning for years. I was used to this type of life. Additionally, I follow a strict diet due to celiac disease, so I avoid going out to places where they serve food; so it is not a sacrifice at all for me to cut the restaurants and bars. I have other activities to meet my friends like concerts, festivals, sporting and so many more.
Reporting : The AARTEN Professional Training
In collaboration with EDE-Entrepreneurs, AARTEN presents a unique opportunity to acquire the skills to start your business. Source: AARTEN. The training allows the certification of professional specialization (ASP 5264), and the eligibility of loans and scholarships.
UPDATE: AARTEN BECOMES ARTOPOLE
Note that this training has evolved and is now offered by Artopole, the alliance of AARTEN and Bureau de Prod in 2021. See at the bottom section of this article.
A StartUp Training
Wanting to update my knowledge in business launches and obtain official certification, I decided to follow professional training from the Association of Artists-Entrepreneurs of Montreal (AARTEN). The theoretical and practical courses aim to provide management concepts in order to produce a business plan, develop a sales pitch and marketing strategies, carry out market analyzes and all the other steps to launch a business and get a Business Plan to operate a startup at the end of the session.
From private coaching to group classes, consulting AARTEN is a great way to find help in the launch of your business. Certificate of Professional Specialization (ASP 5264), allowing the eligibility for loans and scholarships.
Dedicated to Artists, Artisans and Cultural Managers
AARTEN offers consulting services and training that will support the entrepreneurial approach of artist entrepreneurs. Their network is established in the Montréal’s cultural community and they offer support from their members promoting subscriber events and projects.
Their mission is to help artists, artisans and cultural professionals from all fields in the Montréal region.
Classes take place in offices in downtown Montréal. All team members listen to each student and explain the real market situation, allowing us to make the best decisions. While being up to date with the latest trends, using technology and providing plenty of additional resources, the training requires homework and consulting services are also offered for development.
Class Days
Classes are given in groups with a trainer in the offices in downtown Montreal. The opportunity is ideal to meet several other entrepreneurs and develop networking links. The training can also be followed remotely.
Theoretical and practical courses provide management concepts in order to produce a business plan, develop a sales pitch, plan marketing strategies, analyze the market and establish financial projections.
The tools and assignments allow you to create your tactics, design your documents and carry out your research, while obtaining the opinion and advice of a trainer during a personalized weekly meeting. This training requires extra-class work, which you will use to develop all your professional projects.
Finally, AARTEN follows new trends and uses the latest technology in order to offer a real market situation. The team also offers additional resources in the private virtual library. The members of the team listen to each student and guide us to make the best decisions.
Consulting Services and Continuing Training
Starting a business is never easy. From the first day, many tasks have to be carried out, or supervised, and often in a short time. We can easily get lost, or forget an important detail. This is why it is better to surround yourself well and ask for advice, especially in lesser-known areas.
Business launch training will give you the knowledge and skills to begin your process, or develop an existing service or product. Consulting services and ongoing education on various subjects will allow you to stay on top of new developments in your market when you go into business. In addition, AARTEN offers annual packages which include a number of meetings and training at very good prices, in addition to allowing access to its additional resources and taking advantage of the association’s promotion.
Artist and Entrepreneur Jeff Maheux or W+M Services to come…
Thus, to my experience in marketing and electronic sales, will be added knowledge of business startups and a robust business plan, which will allow me to improve development and the search for financing. While waiting to toss my hat and hang up my diploma, I say well done to all the AARTEN staff and greet my classmates.
In collaboration with EDE - Entrepreneurs Start to Expand, AARTEN presents a unique opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to start your business.
UPDATE: AARTEN JOINS BUREAU DE PROD AND BECOMES ARTOPOLE
Text translates from the website of Artopole – Maison d’entrepreneuriat artistique
Artopole was born from the grouping of two organizations: Bureau de Prod and AARTEN. With similar values and visions regarding artistic support, entrepreneurship and the desire for development for the cultural community, nothing more was needed to begin the merger of the two organizations into its new entity.
In March 2021, Bureau de Prod and AARTEN officially became Artopole – Maison d’entrepreneuriat artistique (house of artistic entrepreneurship) and specializes in the management, tailor-made support and professional training of artists and cultural companies in Québec.
Visit the site of Artopole and find out all trainings available!
Conclusion
With my diploma to come and a business plan in hand, I am starting to launch my freelance agency as a website editor and digital marketer, while continuing to operate the Astuces D’Hommes clothing e-commerce business and the website ADHHDA, since the turnover of this small clothing company already operational for almost two years, has a regular turnover with automated administrative tasks.
I think the time has come to launch this new marketing agent project.
Come on, see you on the blog.
