StreetStyle - the making of The X Session
Hello,
In 2024, I intend to write daily to continue this web and marketing blog thing.
Here is my November ticket, where I do a Kylie Minogue of myself by presenting the making of my last web promo. I also share my first experience as a Web Blog Boutique manager, and I give you a clue about what is coming up with my website in 2024.
MusicScore: of course, Kylie’s excellent new album: Tension. Let’s do this!
I call this photo session, and the article about it StreetStyle. Which went well with the t-shirt and suit style with boot. Everything was published at the time on the website adhhda.com, but this domain is no longer active. Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Montreal, June 2018.
The X Session - The making of
Did you see my latest clip promoting my website? I wanted to do a making of to explain how and what I did to start my marketing campaign. It’s a Friday talk. Enjoy!
The right place
This photo session took place in Montreal in 2018, I think. I was living in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG) at that time. It was early morning in the middle of a heatwave in June.
That Saturday was the last shooting of my new colletion from my meanwear online store. It was of course very hot inside the studio and since I decided to get my hair straight for that last session I needed to model myself, low budget decision, I’m doing my hair for the third time while looking at the window.
This is the side wall of the NDG Depot, beside my place, where people brang their old furnitures.
Perfect timing they say
Then. I saw through the window a neighbor who puts an old harmchair on the side of the street. Of course, the model, color, and style matched perfectly with my decor; I want it in my studio right now!
Running outside to bring it back in the studio with half head straight/curly, I realized too late it was way to large to get inside the basement. impossible to move it in and it is getting late, we have to drop the idea.
Suddenly, a magnificent ray of sunlight appears in front of the house, wonderfully lighting the street. And there you go, life was showing us where the X needed to be placed. Right there, a single picture. A one shot deal!
There was only one take, because a car asked us to move and when we put the chair back in place, the ray of sunshine had disappeared!
This is why the image with the solo chair taken subsequently is darker; we couldn't use flash because it appeared with the silver sheen of the costume fabric, which I had to feature.
Although there are plenty of errors in the image, I wanted to leave it as is. You can see that half of my head is still swollen and I haven't removed the chalk x on the ground, finding it too perfect. I hadn't had time to put on the shirt and tie planned to launch my new accessories, so all we see is the pocket square. I took a lot of photos with a very British humor at the time, making fun of the absurdity of the things we were all willing to do to get beautiful images on Instagram.
The image was perfect for the occasion, and still is. It’s a humorous photo that reminds me of the importance of listening to your instincts.
That’s the #StreetStyle story.
A Web Blog Shop?
It all started when I returned to study in a business launch training in order to begin my profession as a freelancer. My main project was to create a business project for a fictitious entreprise. I had chosen a men's clothing store, as my child dream was to own a boutique. Throughout the session, I set up a website demo with an integrated store. The site needed to program items, so I boutht t-shirts, took the pictures and edited the images. My inventory got larger, adding shirts, then pants, sportswear, etc.
You can now imagine a had a big inventory at the end of the session, so I bought a domain name, registered a clothing distribution company that I called AstucesDHommes and launched an online store. I managed the store for 2 or 3 years. I stopped everything to concentrate solely on digital marketing at the begining of 2019.
I will surely find a way to publish an article on this web store project. I learned a lot during this professional period, it should be shared, especially the things to avoid, because I lost a lot of time, money, and working hours.

It’s a marketing thing
#itsamarketingthing
I wanted to explain how I proceded to mix my latest site advertising and what I did to promote it. Sometimes marketing is not just about expenses
So this morning, with my phone and 3 jped pictures, I used the free Photoshop App to mix a 13 seconds clip. I opted for the Photoshop app since I prefer the choice of music, the free effect are great and you can save your project for free without a logo. This made my day! It took me 5 minutes to create a 13 seconds clip that I share on my social.
The following day, 400 unique users visited my site. The cost: $0,00. I simply posted, used stories, and modified all profile pictures and page banners on all accounts.
Sharing is a force
We should not underestimate the power of sharing in our product launches and I always suggest it before even thinking about putting a budget for promotion.
Of course, take care to choose your publication time carefully and don't take time off immediately after the event, because you will have to quickly switch to the networking mode.
Also do some research to find out how to share your information, new applications appear every day and they are often free.
Conclusion
Thanks for reading. The marketing website and publications are a production of W+M Services.
Located in Quebec City, the individual company Services W+M guides entrepreneurs, users of digital tools and workers in sales, communication and marketing departments in the daily use of their sales tools and websites.
We read it on the blog and in the Monthly Ticket magazine.
