Looking at Bird Flocks

I never cared about my posture at work, and especially in front of the computer and laptop. Being flexible and relatively fit, it isn’t programming for a few hours on the side of an old table that bothered me. Legs crossed, the chair swaying all day long, 2 large screens at 12 inches from my face and as you can read, I enjoyed working in the big way!

I wasn’t realizing the effects it has on my back, my shoulders and neck. I worked like this for several years.

My twisted back took over me a few months ago. I met Dr. Roxane Bertrand, Chiropractor, to finally feel good, upright

Restoring posture while losing bad sitting habits is a big thing. It’s a long process and it includes a lot more than we could imagine. Besides reviewing seating positions at all times of the day and having to replace several pieces of furniture, whose cushions and seats are now incorrect; you have to look at the car seats!

As Dr. Bertrand told me in our first meetings, we must identify the problematic sources. Since I’m working in front of the screen all day, the main source of my problem was the position I adopted in front of the computer. The height and the orientation of the screen, and the distance between the screen and my eyes, were corrected immediately. With treatment, the stiffness in the neck and upper back disappeared and the mobility of the neck and shoulders gradually returned, and I finally resolve a tendinitis problem it also caused.

The desktop and the screen were changed too. I returned to a single monitor placed in front of me, at the distance of my arm. Meaning when I’m sitting and stretching my right arm, it’s only the tip of my index finger that touches the screen.

In terms of monitor height, my eyes are at the lever in the first top quarter of the screen and the top of my head is at the same height as the top of the screen. Thus, one looks straight ahead, as when you look through the window at bird flocks.

The height and position of my desk and the location of an adapted keyboard were done, and so the purchase of a work chair. I exercise and do stretching a few times a day since outside and now, besides fixing my back problem, I’m getting to know all the bird clans of the yard!

I don’t work with a laptop anymore. I only use it on the go if necessary. I invite you to visit Dr. Bertrand’s website and the article’s section on chiropractic, including the publication on desktop posture. You can use the translator of your browser to get the posts in English, as usual.

Thank you to Dre Roxane Bertrand, Chiropractor. Dre Bertrand Office is in Ste-Foy, Québec, Canada. (Easily accessible with parking - Corner of Chemin Sainte-Foy and Duplessis.) Seven-day emergency services. Welcome to the athletes and the whole family.

Professional Changes - Seven Years Later

Yearly, the month of July coincides with the anniversary of the registration and preparation for a return to school. This is the beginning of the history of W+M, now seven years ago.

Here is the report about my departure as a freelance website administrator. I was then full-time self-employed, while operating a virtual men’s clothing distribution store for a couple months already.

This report provides an overview of the reality of launching a business in Quebec and the lifestyle of an entrepreneur.

In this article, I also introduce AARTEN, school of the professional training in business launch I followed at the time. AARTEN formation is now given by a new educational establishment, namely Artopole – Maison d’entrepreneuriat artistique.

Monthly Partner Advertising

The chronicle of different and low-cost marketing for startups, businesses and entrepreneurs. It’s a marketing story is told every month in the Monthly Ticket of the Marketing Blog.

Chronicle 7: Meta’s business products: Facebook, Instagram and company B.

I’m a songwriter Mom, why would I have a Facebook business page?

… And here I am on a Wednesday, sitting in front of an open window on a May evening with the sound of frogs, clicking on the tab to start a new Facebook account for a business page to generate interest from prospects, customers, and fans, using advanced promotion tools, account management, and sharing options, and soon having access to statistics, audiences and advertising tools, and more… OK, even my mother seemed to know I needed a professional account!

Easy FB

User Friendly is what comes to my mind when creating a Business Facebook page. The simplicity of the guide to start a page, with information links at each stage of the process, and the help and continuous improvement on options offered, makes Facebook a remarkable and complete sales tool.

Let’s try it like, now…

Starting a Business Account

Come on, Popeye, five steps to follow, according to the user guide for opening an account. That’s just enough time for a good 45-minute CD! Let’s go:

I am therefore taking the example of the new Facebook page to be created for the company JM Musique, the sister company of W+M Services which produces the entire musical side of content production, internal and external.

Step Number 1: Creating the page

And now step 1 is complete! Already, in the next step, the page status table, a comparison of similar pages, tells you your positioning. I’m currently listening to track 2 of the CD.

Step Number 2: Administrative details and contact details

  • Company website address

  • Company phone number

  • Company address

  • Details of opening hours if the schedule has to be displayed

  • Profile picture

  • Cover image

  • The choice of the redirection button, either the link to your website to promote your products or services, link to your store or to your email directly, the choice is vast and a help table opens to guide us.

Are you the skipper type? Yes, I skipped song number 4 and listen to the fifth track on the CD. I’m not very into slow songs when I’m working, I prefer rhythmic songs.

Step Number 3: Association with the WhatsApp account

A simple connection if you use the application. You can skip this step and do it from your mobile.

Step Number 4: The invitation to share

The registration process involves by default a step of sharing the new account with the contacts (friends) of the creator account. This portion of the registration is not mandatory if you prefer to announce your new account later, while you make a few publications in your page before the presentation.

I’ll pause the CD at track 6 to explain my point about sharing our first business account. I know it can be awkward to show a new Facebook account with only one or two followers. The trend is to share the new business account with our personal followers, or ask employees to do the same to get more members.

There are different methods of disclosing a new social account and many entrepreneurs ask their personal followers, as suggested in Facebook Step 4, to share their business posts, while others prefer to put a budget and target an audience and postpone this step to focus on newcomers from their campaign.

I believe, before deciding to share a new business account on personal media, we must consider whether these new subscribers are beneficial for the brand image and the search for prospects, or not.

Shares only leading to hours of responses in writing and answering comments without leading to a sale are perhaps not recommended. On the contrary, if your personal subscribers are your target clientele, then no problem, we share our livelihood as suggested in step 4, taking the time to compose a beautiful invitation to subscribe and share.

Step Number 5: Acceptance of notices

Yes, Meta sends communications and we need to agree to receive notifications and promotional marketing emails. A simple click while track 6 of the CD is fading out. It ended up taking less than 30 minutes.

I then invite you to visit Instagram to create your account and link your Facebook and Instagram business instances to take advantage of the Meta publication table to manage your accounts easily, see statistics, respond to requests via Messenger and schedule publication, story and Reel.

Here are the new JM Musique accounts:

Budget: $0. Yes, it costs nothing to operate a Facebook page. The expenses in money, or time, are the writing and creation of the material, the daily management of the customer service. Also a budget if your boost publications and advertise. Now, the time to publish and to operate accounts is saved with the sharing linked options. Adding your participation in groups and communities related to your field is also an investment of time, like any good publicity campaign and marketing strategy.

Tip: Although I work with Facebook daily and read news and blog articles about it, I always subscribe and read Facebook and Meta’s offers and tips guides mailing. This allows you to know what’s new in the system.

Tools: All visual material and video creation applications, such as Canva, CapCut or Photoshop, give very good results for publications on social. The investment will rather be in text writing and correction applications. Facebook pages involve composing and networking for a better efficiency.

So I listened to the rest of the CD while writing this column. This shows you the important interest of having a Facebook page for a business. Once associated with Instagram and Threads accounts, besides the possibility of advertising and exploiting the local commerce searches of users, we have a very great tool for our digital marketing communications. It’s free, why not trying it.

Yes, mothers, they’re always right! Except for some music tastes… Here is an article about boosting Facebook publication. Written at the time to start my professional services 7 years ago, and updated yearly since.

No 7: Website Programming Time

The word programming was in the spotlight last month at the W+M office since it was the time to integrate the first step of the e-Boutique on the website with the product programming. In the coming weeks, the second step will be integrated, i.e., automated payment, and the subject of the Office News of August.

So, let’s talk about item programming and web editing and especially the time you need to plan for it. Here is the website administrator column of the month: website programming time

The Cost of Programming a Website

When purchasing a new car, there are certain standards and personal preferences we establish in our search criteria. In this search criteria, there is an obvious question that must also be answered which is the operation of the machine; it’s rare we accept to buy something that doesn’t work. There are therefore, behind the car and its proper functioning, a certain amount of time was put in the manufacture to meet the standards, conditions, legal and commercial aspects, and many other levels of product design, making the car work, been put on sale, been promoted, etc.

It’s the same thing for a website. All the following aspects must be thought of when releasing a first website and all have a cost, whoever does:

  1. Site type and hosting and domain costs and the programming of identification and administrative parameters of the website.

  2. Conception of visual and video material and subsequent costs.

  3. Writing page texts, parameters description and SEO, and subsequent costs.

  4. Programming the design, layout and testing each page, product, item, blog post.

  5. Website launch and promotion time, and subsequent costs.

  6. Site and company referencing in search tools and link indexing, and subsequent costs.

  7. Regular management of the website, daily layout, check of statistics and responses from customers and visitors, and subsequent costs.

It’s therefore necessary to plan an adequate annual budget, a website from a programming package of $300.00 from a webmaster for 10 hours of programming will only give you the following numbers from the top list: 1, 4 and 6. So, who will take care of the other steps of the list, which are also crucial in the operation of an active business website, and often necessary even before the start of programming? Of course, many entrepreneurs will do it by themselves in a startup mode, but remember when programming, we aren’t doing money most of the time.

Calculate the Cost of Day-to-day Management

To give an idea of the total budget for website design, SEO, updates and annual validation, study of statistics and the promotion to bring visitors on the website (social media, Google Ads, third party and physical display and advertising) and who will take care of managing these tools and projects, is sometimes the great unknown from startups. I usually recommend starting with a professional page on social media before even thinking about producing a website, the time to get use to the job.

Also, let’s remember, a website has annual costs; it’s not a photo album that will remain active like an image gallery on Facebook. Making a website to showcase wedding photos may be expensive eventually.

The Frequency of Changes

Think carefully about your first presentation and your first brand image. It’s annoying to have to make frequent branding changes. Customers like to know about a site. The easier it is for them to use your digital tools, the more they will use them. That’s why it’s good to reduce the number of drastic changes.

Remember the last update of your favourite app, where we can often read a lot of negative comments in the following hours. If you make major changes too often, it may happen again. It’s better to implement small changes, one after the other, by explaining how it works to your customers. You can also make a promotion to introduce this new feature, which will encourage curiosity and perhaps more traffic to your site.

Learn how to work accurately and organize your digital tools efficiently and thus, you will have the best clientele in town!

The holiday season for many, the season of creating holiday visuals for others, digital marketing is filled with surprises and discoveries.

Having just completed the search for themes for the 2025 editions of the W+M Monthly Tickets, all newly programmed in the partners’ e-Boutique by the way, I reread the marketing trends from the beginning of the year and the sale and promotion of brands in using social media and communities is the most significant sales movement in the virtual domain currently, and this in several areas.

Another good reason to promote your business in this blog which publishes a virtual magazine monthly, right?

Until then, see you on the Blog

Thank you,

Jeff
